Mr. Lenny Wong, President of the Cambodia Trade & Commerce of Toronto successfully led a group of 12 business delegates on an 8-day trade mission to Cambodia from November 8 – November 16, 2022, accompanied by H.E. Rin Virak, Permanent Secretary of State, Ministry of Planning of Cambodia.

The goal of this mission was to liaise with various government bodies for the promotion of business activities, cultural exchanges, and to establish business and investment opportunities in Cambodia.

This is the first trade mission organized by the Liaison Office since its incorporation a few months prior, with great significance not only for being the first trade mission but also for successfully bringing together a business-to-business partnership.  Led by Mr. Lenny Wong, President of the Cambodia Trade & Commerce of Toronto the 8-day trade mission allowed business delegates to participate in the ASEAN Business & Investment Summit 2022 that welcomed over 1000 participants and business leaders and company executives from ASEAN and its Dialogue partners, engage with industry experts on various business topics, conduct business networking opportunities and direct connections with senior business executives and government officials.

Within the 8-day mission to Cambodia, Mr. Lenny Wong and the business delegation facilitated 15 business meetings and networking opportunities and met with over 100 government officials, senior business leaders, and executives.  The mission had fruitful discussions and exchanges between the Trade Commissioner from the Office of the Embassy of Canada, high-ranking government leaders, Minister of Commerce, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, and Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia.

Overall, the mission was a success with a positive outlook on the business climate and investment opportunities in Cambodia, particularly with the support from the government offices.  The trade mission established the groundwork for understanding Cambodia's business climate, future investment, and trade opportunities, and building business networks between the two countries.   It is noted that follow-ups are necessary and crucial to the success of a business mission.  The Cambodia Trade & Commerce of Toronto have committed to working closely with the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Trade Commissioner, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, and the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia to ensure ongoing communication on investment opportunities, cultural exchange, thus creating new jobs in both countries.
