Honorary Samdech Say Chhum has presided over the Senate of Cambodia since 2015. Previously, he held the position of first Vice President of the Senate and succeeded Chea Sim following his passing. Additionally, he chaired the Permanent Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party. In 2003, Honorary Samdech Say Chhum was elected to represent Kampong Speu Province in the National Assembly and later served as Second Vice-President of the National Assembly.
